Lowering Cholesterol Diets – Do They Work?

Lowering Cholesterol Diets – Do They Work?

In recent years, numerous lowering cholesterol diets have sprouted up.  This is in response to the fact that heart disease has been the leading cause of death in the United States, Canada, and many other countries since 2007.  People are naturally looking to lower their risk for heart disease, and so are turning to these diets as the answer.

Do these lowering cholesterol diets actually work?  The answer is quite simply, yes.  It doesn’t take much more than common sense to figure out that eating healthier will result in lower cholesterol levels.  A person who eats steamed chicken breasts everyday will almost always be healthier than one who eats cheeseburgers on a daily basis.

While these diets do work, they tend to overcomplicate things.  This is understandable, because the creators of these diets need to differentiate and separate themselves from all the other diets out there.  However, in their attempts to sell their “unique and groundbreaking” diets, the basic rules of lowering cholesterol levels are often lost in scientific jargon and complex-sounding principles.

At the end of the day, lowering cholesterol levels is as simple as choosing to stay away from foods that are high in saturated fats.  A diet that focuses on whole grains and lean meats will do wonders for improving cholesterol levels.  There is no secret to it.  All it takes is discipline.
